The Red Star Belgrade women’s senior team will be led by Danilo Stokuća, Ivica Jevtić’s former assistant in the men’s team, in the new year.

A difficult and demanding task awaits him, but he emphasizes that he is embarking on the endeavor with maximum motivation:

“Being appointed head coach of the Red Star Belgrade women’s senior team is a great honor, but also a responsibility. This is a club with a rich tradition and clearly set ambitions, and I am grateful for the trust shown in me by the club’s management. I am aware of the difficulty of the task that awaits me, but at the same time I am highly motivated to work together with the coaching staff and players to achieve the club’s goals.”

The girls don’t have much time to rest and adapt because they will soon be competing in the CEV Cup:

“We start work on the 1st. January, and already On January 7th we are traveling to Denmark, because we On January 8th, a match on the European stage against the Holte team awaits, as part of the round of 16 of the CEV Challenger Cup. It’s clear that we’re facing a serious challenge and a demanding schedule from the very start, but it’s precisely matches like these that represent a good test and an opportunity for the team to quickly consolidate and show character.”

“In the first period, the focus will be on stabilizing the team, establishing a clear work system and raising the level of discipline, energy and responsibility. The goal is for Red Star to have a recognizable identity on the field – a fighting and organized team with a clear idea of the game and a winning mentality. It is a process that requires continuity, but I believe that we will show the direction we are going in a relatively short period of time.”

Before taking over Red Star, Danilo was himself a professional volleyball player in the middle blocker position, he also worked with the Partizan women’s senior team and led the OK Banja Luka team, and at the beginning of last season he took over the role of assistant coach to Ivica Jevtić in the Red Star men’s senior team:

“The experience gained so far, gained through working in different roles and environments, is an important foundation for this step. I believe that this experience has further developed me as a coach and given me confidence in making decisions. At this moment, I feel that I am ready for the challenge of the head coach position at Red Star.”

He takes over the team in a rather awkward position in the table, but emphasizes that the highest expectations from the team remain unchanged:

“All decisions regarding the team will be made solely in the interest of the club. First, it is necessary to assess the full potential of the existing playing staff, and then, in agreement with the management, assess the possible need for additional reinforcements. I expect maximum professionalism, dedication and work from the players, while they will have clear communication, defined roles and full support from my side.”

“Our fans can expect a team that will fight for every point and represent the club worthily, both on the domestic and European stage. Their support is an important factor and I believe that together we will build a team that will live up to expectations.”

We wish Dača the best of luck in her new role, and our girls will have their first test at Christmas in Denmark in the round of 16 of the CEV Cup, while the Banka Poštanska Stedionica Superliga continues on the 16th. January.
