With great sadness and deep respect, we inform the sports and volleyball community that Olga Caran, former Red Star volleyball player and member of the Yugoslav national team, has left us.

Olga Caran was born on 7. October 1936. year in Belgrade. She was part of the women’s team and captain of Red Star Belgrade during a period when the club achieved exceptional success in domestic competitions. With the red and white team, she won 10 national championship titles (1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1972) and 4 national cups (1960, 1961, 1962 and 1972).

She also played for the Yugoslav national team – she was a member of the senior women’s national team at the 1958 European Championship. in Prague, where Yugoslavia occupied the 7th. place.

After her playing career, she remained with Red Star when our volleyball team achieved one of the greatest successes in history by winning the 4th place. places in the 1976 European Champions Cup. In 2011, Olga led the red and white team in the final tournament in Eupen, Belgium, from the bench, as a coach, replacing Marković, who was unable to play.

Olga was known not only for her exceptional athletic talent, but also for her fighting spirit, dedication, and love of the game. She was a pillar of the team, an exemplary athlete, and a great inspiration to younger generations. Her dedication and performances have helped Red Star consolidate its status as one of the leading women’s volleyball clubs in the country.

The memory of Olga Caran will live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, in teammates, opponents, coaches and fans.
