Our boys performed a miracle again in the eighth round of the Banka Poštanska Stedionica Superleague, coming back from a two-set deficit and dramatically turning the game around.

This time with the current champion and winner of the Cup and Super Cup, Radnički from Kragujevac.

Red Star was better after five sets with a score of 3-2, with the scores 22:25, 19:25, 25:14, 25:20 and 15:7.

Perhaps head coach Ivica Jevtić described it best when he said that we saw a replay of last week’s match, and the similarities are truly great.

Another uncertain start, a great fight on both sides, but a slight advantage for the guests throughout the set, they lost their cool at one point, but it seemed as if our guys were preparing a turnaround already towards the end of the first half of the game.

However, Radnički ends the first set in their favor and looks like a team that came for the win.

The second set played out very similarly, an even fight and an advantage for the visitors, but less energy on the Red Star side and the team from Kragujevac increased its momentum and prepared for a quick victory.

In the third set, a change occurs that we have seen many times this season, as if our guys were warming up in the first two sets and now they are just starting to play their game.

A less even fight was seen in this set, Red Star’s advantage was greater and we reduced the score quite convincingly.

The fourth set continues in the same rhythm, Radnicki tries to respond, but simply has no chance to establish control over the score and our guys come to an equalizer.

Since they had played five sets more times than they hadn’t this season, the advantage was on our side and Red Star routinely completed the turnaround in the deciding set.

The most efficient player in the Red Star team was Milan Krstić with 28 points, Omar Ahmed Dejo added 16, Alija Bekrić 13, while Andrej Rudić scored 12 points.

Another hard and exhausting match in a short period of time, the boys will have only two days to rest before perhaps the most important match of the season so far, the rematch with Spartak Subotica in the Serbian Cup.

Second semi-final match of 61. The Serbian Volleyball Cup is being played on Wednesday at Banjica and our boys are chasing the deficit from the first match, so we need a convincing victory.
