OK Red Star volleyball players have started preparations for the new season, big challenges await them at the very beginning of the European competition, and the goals are high both in the domestic league and in the cup.
Compared to last year, there were of course the expected changes, the most significant would be the departures of captain Jelena Stojić, technician Ana Jakšić, blocker Saška Đurović, libero Sanja Đurđević and receiver Nikolina Lukić.
The already young and promising team was joined by talents from our school, and both experienced and promising reinforcements were brought in.
The correctors remained unchanged: Jasek Malgoržata, the league’s best scorer, and Katarina Stanković will continue to lead the attack.
In the position of libero, there is our junior representative Višnja Žigić, who will be assisted by newcomers Sofija Đorđević and Tamara Stupar.
Technicians this season are two big reinforcements, Anđela Veselinović and Ivona Lazović, as well as Thea Stojanović, who was the captain of our junior selection, but will join the team later due to an injury.
The middle blockers are two more young members of the national team, Lana Mijačić and Magdalena Obućina, as well as the already native Aleksandra Janjić, and they were reinforced by Anica Kutlešić.
As far as receivers are concerned, a big reinforcement is the return of the champion from the 2021/2022 season, Ana Lazarevic, with her there are young national team members Simona Mateska, Staša Stamenković, Milana Stanković, as well as another big reinforcement, Thea Simić.
The team will be led from the bench again by the brilliant Milan Gršić, while the assistant coach from this season is our former player Katarina Vukomanović.
Before the start of the season, the girls are waiting for at least two traditional friendly tournaments in Užice and our Šakota Memorial, while the competition in Europe starts in mid-autumn.
