After the summer break, our boys got together and started preparations for defending the title and participating in the Champions League.
The champion team suffered minor changes, the departures of captain Nikola Petrović, league best player Dušan Nikolić and receiver Nikola Žugić would be highlighted, but of course adequate reinforcements were recruited and the team is preparing to surpass the results of last season.
The members of the championship team from the 2015/16 season, Aleksandar Gmitrović and Aleksandar Blagojević, returned to the club as proofreaders.
Vukašin Ristić, who was on the wider list of the national team until the very end, and Bogdan Tomašević remain the tandem in the libero position.
The technicians this season will be Strahinja Kljajić, who changed the captain brilliantly last year, as well as the reinforcement from Russia, Ivan Lukyanenko.
The best blocker in the league from last season, Aleksandar Stefanović, Andrej Popović and Mladen Janković, are in the position of middle blocker, while Stevan Simić came from Vojvodina as a reinforcement.
The receivers were joined by another returnee Filip Stoilović, and there are also Omar Ahmad Dejo, Luka Stepanović, Danilo Ilić as well as two new faces Andrej Lukić and Andrija Tomić.
The team is led from the bench again this season by head coach Ivica Jevtić, who spent the summer at the Olympic Games with the national team, as well as assistant coach Ognjen Bulić.
Our boys don’t have much time because they start the competition in the Champions League in mid-September, and the Serbian Super Cup awaits them not long after.
